Cozy little place with excellent service. We ordered the chicken curry katsu and Nabeyaki Udon. My son loved the katsu, praising its crunch and flavor. My udon hot pot was indeed hot! It arrived boiling hot with an egg still cooking and was outstandingly delicious!! If I get it again I'll request tempura shrimp on the side so the ends don't get soggy. Hot tea was also very hot. I added ice so I could drink it with my meal. I actually added a little ice to the udon too, because my son was almost done with his meal and it was still very hot! Our tea was refilled and service overall was prompt, friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!

Food Creamy Mentai Udon (5/5) - Delicious, rich, umami, perfect texture. I can't wait to come back for this. Beef Udon (5/5) - This is sukiyaki based, so expect it to be a bit sweet. Takoyaki (5/5) - This is the best Takoyaki i've ever had, perfectly crispy on the outside, and perfect textured on the inside. Service They open AT 5pm. Really efficient, but no between dining check-in's. Ambiance One of the best hole in the walls we've discovered in a minute! Will definitely be back. See you soon!

Wait wasn't too bad on a Saturday night but they did read off the waitlist and skip people that wasn't present. I enjoyed my ramen and it was garlicky and very favorable. I did also ordered some skewers which were just ok and overpriced for the amount they give you. The udon soup was good but nothing stands out.

Delicious traditional Japanese dishes! My girlfriend & I went on Saturday for lunch. The restaurant was not busy, but the parking lot was (located in the Nijiya shopping center). Lunch specials come with rice & miso soup. Portions are generous. Chicken Katsu Curry: Flavorful, thick curry. Miso Salmon: Loved the sweet miso sauce. Mini Eel Rice Bowl: I added this as an add on to my lunch entree & you should too! The eel was marinated & cooked perfectly, which is so hard to find here in SD.

This place though! Whenever the family and I are in town, we make it a point to stop by this fine establishment and either dine in - or if we are in that much of a rush, we order to go! their lunch deals can't be beat anywhere else, I believe. Service is immaculate and speedy. Ambiance takes you elsewhere. Sitting at the bar, you wouldn't really feel like you're in California. Our favorite are their squid legs (SO CRUNCHY!) We definitely would recommend this place to friends and family.

Love this casual Japanese spot! Everything we tried on the menu was amazing and so packed of flavor. It's a bit tight inside, so we sat at the bar and I really appreciated the quick service. We got the soba noodles, karaage, and the eel rice. By far my favorite item was the eel rice. It was so sweet and salty and had a very homey taste to it. Plan to come back and update my review more thoroughly, but please check this spot out!
